What Does an Air Traffic Controller Do?
As an Air Traffic Controller, you will:
- Ensure the safe and efficient movement of aircraft in and out of Findel Airport.
- Communicate with pilots to provide clear and precise instructions.
- Monitor aircraft routes and manage emergency situations if necessary.
- Coordinate with other air traffic services to maintain seamless operations.
Requirements
- Languages: Must be proficient in English and Luxembourgish (French and German are a plus).
- Education: A secondary school diploma (or equivalent recognized qualification).
- Skills: Ability to stay calm under pressure, quick decision-making, teamwork, and attention to detail.
- Work Conditions: The role involves shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
- Medical Fitness: Candidates must pass a medical exam for aviation safety.
Training and Career Path
- Pre-selection tests, including FEAST (aviation aptitude test).
- Paid theoretical training at the Finnish Aviation Academy (Helsinki) for 9 months.
- On-the-job training in Luxembourg for 10-15 months.
- Full employment starting in September 2025.
