Clear skies are ahead, but we need you in the cockpit! Join us this Saturday at Parc Alvisse for an afternoon dedicated to extraordinary adventures, a transition to the next generation of leadership, and a heartfelt tribute to the “beating heart” of our association.
Adventure Without Borders: Petz Bettendorf & the Risen
We are honored to welcome Petz Bettendorf, a pilot whose logbook reads like an adventure novel. While most fly 15-50 hours a year, Petz spends 300 hours in the sky, pushing his Risen (a Swiss-engineered masterpiece from Swiss Excellence Airplanes) to its absolute limits.

From Iceland to Egypt, Petz has seen it all. This Saturday, he will reveal the details of his latest milestones: epic journeys to Saudi Arabia, the Emirates, and Cap Verdian Islands in a high-end ULM—trips many thought were impossible for this class of aircraft.
A Technological Wonder: The Risen (Callsign: D-MPRV) represents the future. It is carbon-fiber, incredibly fast, and—most importantly—ecological. It runs on lead-free MOGAS (car fuel) rather than leaded AVGAS.
Note: Petz’s plane flies under a German flag because the Luxembourg DAC has yet to implement the “opt-out” 600kg ULM legislation, a delay that keeps these advanced, green aircraft from being registered here at home.
Honoring a Legend: Marco Felten
The highlight of our gathering will be a special ceremony for Marco Felten. For 14 years, Marco has been the backbone of AOPA Luxembourg. Having served as Treasurer under multiple presidencies, he has been the “beating heart” of our community, connecting pilots and ensuring our association thrived.

In a rare move, the members will be asked to nominate Marco as an Honorary Member. In the long history of AOPA (founded in the 1950s), he is only the second person to ever receive this honor, following Jean Birgen. Please join us to show your gratitude for his outstanding service.
A Call to the Next Generation: Your Association Needs You
AOPA Luxembourg has stood for pilot rights since the 1950s, but we are at a crossroads. This Saturday, most of our long-standing board members will be stepping down to make room for new faces.
We are currently looking for volunteers to join the board. To ensure continuity and keep our association flying high, we need the next generation of pilots to step forward. If you have a passion for aviation and want to shape its future in Luxembourg, we want to meet you!
