UPL-AOPA elects new board with Peter Sodermans as President

UPL-AOPA Luxembourg elected a new board: @NicolasBannasch hands over the presidency of the board to @petersodermans , who announced to launch with the new team an agenda of digitalisation, meaning integration of digital technologies in general aviation based upon the “enable, kickstart, connect and inform” principles.

The new elected board of UPL-AOPA exists of Nicolas Bannasch, Marco Felten, Jean Birgen, Bernard Frechen, Guy Zenner, Mika Wagner, Jean-Claude Frank, David Muno, Reinhard Krommes and Peter Sodermans. It is the best possible combination of experience and new talent with digital skills. All of them are volunteers.

Flying has been Peter Sodermans’ passion since the age of 16, when Peter obtained his glider license at the Belgian Air Cadets. When he started his professional life, he immediately took private pilot courses and became a private pilot with some 800 motor flying and 250 gliding/soaring hours on his counter.

In his spare time, he served several years on the board of UPL-AOPA in Luxembourg as a volunteer (where he organized several fly-outs, actively contributed to the new setup of AOPA Belgium bringing people together and worked around digitalization and communication themes at UPL-AOPA in Luxembourg).

He always tried to act in a responsible way, being a good listener and strong communicator focusing on bringing people together around general aviation themes.

As new President of the board of UPL-AOPA he intends to work around four themes in the upcoming period:

ENABLE * KICKSTART * CONNECT * INFORM *

1 ENABLE

Using digitalization as a lever for strengthening the setup of our association and reaching out to the interests of the general aviation community. Project by project, we’ll enable new initiatives within UPL-AOPA for the benefit of our pilot community– together.

2. KICKSTART

We are passionate about kick-starting projects that help the general aviation community moving forward in Luxembourg.

3. CONNECT

We will actively bring together ministries, institutions, flight schools, aviation clubs and aviation enthusiast individuals, helping them to create innovative solutions to meet current and future needs of general aviation in Luxembourg.

4. INFORM

UPL-AOPA is the central node in the Luxembourg general aviation eco-system, we’ll map the progress achieved and develop new ways to enhance communication about our goals and how we attain them.

AOPA (Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association) is a non-profit organization that advocates for general aviation. Hundreds of thousands strong and spanning 75 countries, we represent the largest aviation community in the world.

In Luxembourg, we are organized around UPL-AOPA asbl, whereby UPL means “Union des pilotes de Luxembourg”, who groups and represents the aviation community in Luxembourg. It is a volunteer based and non-profit organisation.
