Joint Long Range Tourist Rally 2018

Rally Aero France and UPL-AOPA

Introduction

  • UPL-AOPA Luxembourg has a tradition of organizing long range tourist rallys and organized a rally in 2016 to Natakhari, Georgia with some 40 persons.
  • Rallye Aéro France is organizing long range tourist rally’s to remote locations and aims to travel in June 2018 to the Caspian sea via Georgia.
  • Given the complex flying routes to get to the Caspian shores, forces are bundled to organize a unique general aviation and non-commercial long range tourist rally.

UPL-AOPA can delegate two or three teams. Interested persons are invited to contact tour organizer Jean Michel COLLINEAU (cojac@wanadoo.fr) and Peter Sodermans (peter@sodermans.lu)  early December 2017.

Programme

This is a preliminary program – subject to changes. The title of this long range tourist rally for private pilots is: “from the Atlantic coast to the Caspian shores.”  For ease of calculation, routes hereunder are calculated at a speed of roughly 100 NM.

The tour is organized by volunteers on a noncommercial but well organized basis. Jean-Michel Collineau is the lead organizer.

We’ll stay in good hotels. AVGAS is ensured all along the route (which is the biggest challenge) and custom admin will be handled as well. Routing maps will be provided. We don’t have pricing details of the lodging yet at this stage, but again, it is a noncommercial setup.

We have agreed that two or three teams with UPL-AOPA members can participate in this tour as there is a limited tour availability. Please contact ASAP the tour organization contacts to confirm your interest as we need to secure the teams to move on with the hotel, customs, and tourist program arrangements. Routes are drafted in accordance with local aviation authorities.
