Historic Visit of International Air Cadets to Luxembourg

Historic Visit of International Air Cadets to Luxembourg

In a groundbreaking event, a distinguished delegation of air cadets from Australia, the UK, France, and Germany made their inaugural visit to Luxembourg. This historic two-day program marked a significant milestone in fostering international camaraderie and aviation passion among young cadets.

Day 1: Exploring Vianden Castle and LFTA Training Center

The visit commenced with a tour of the majestic Vianden Castle. The air cadets were enthralled by the castle’s stunning architecture and rich history, dating back centuries. This immersive experience offered them a glimpse into Luxembourg’s cultural heritage and historical significance.

Following the castle tour, the delegation visited the Luxembourg Flight Training Academy (LFTA) at Lux-Airport. Here, Luxembourg’s own young aviation enthusiasts are rigorously trained to become pilots, with many destined to fly for Luxair, Cargolux, and other prominent airlines. The Luxembourg Young Pilots, under the dynamic leadership of Kany Touré, extended a warm welcome to the international visitors. The event featured a lively BBQ on the terrace, fostering new friendships and sharing experiences among the cadets.

Flight Simulation Experience

Marc Rasquin of DIMAS Luxembourg provided the cadets with an exhilarating opportunity to experience flight simulation at the LFTA and Aéro-Sport facilities. This hands-on experience allowed the cadets to enhance their piloting skills and gain practical insights into the aviation industry.

Day 2: Parliamentary Visit and Casemates du Bock

After a joyous evening and much-needed rest, the cadets visited the Luxembourg Parliament the next morning. MP Sven Clement, a licensed pilot and member of Luxembourg’s vibrant aviation community, guided the cadets through the workings of parliamentary democracy and shared Luxembourg’s rich legislative history.

The final leg of the visit took the cadets to the iconic Casemates du Bock, the historic caves of Luxembourg. This visit provided a profound understanding of Luxembourg’s strategic military history and architectural marvels.

Milestone for Luxembourg Air Cadets

This inaugural visit of the International Air Cadets marks a significant achievement in the ongoing efforts to establish Luxembourg Air Cadets. AOPA Luxembourg, in collaboration with the Luxembourg Army and Belgian Air Cadets, is spearheading this initiative. The visit has not only strengthened international ties but also set a precedent for future exchanges and cooperation in aviation training.

This memorable event has undoubtedly laid the foundation for a thriving community of young pilots and aviation enthusiasts in Luxembourg and beyond.
