Semaine de L'aviation at Mondorf 06.-14. September 2025

Calling all avid aviators - would you be interested in volunteering to help at the 115th anniversary celebration of the semaine de l'Aviation? We are so excited to be part of this historic moment and we'd love to share it with you! Let us know if you are interested in finding out how you can be part of this event.

Board Meeting Highlights

 

Highlights from the AOPA Board Meeting 24-10-24

  • Along with a few others, we were at Beauvechain Air Base attending the Belgian Air Cadets celebration of the completion of their 1st year, where they get their 'wings'. This is part of the work being done to bring to life the Luxembourg Air Cadets project.
  • Peter is part of a working group at EASA on all things AI for General Aviation - we hope to hear more details soon!
  • We continue to work out the details regarding closer cooperation with FAL for day to day activities
  • Preparation is underway for the 2025 anniversary edition of Semaine de l'Aviation in coordination with FAL and many other aviation organizations
  • IAOPA is planning a few flyouts for 2025 - stay tuned!
 

IAOPA Regional Meeting Albena Bulgaria

 

The 150th IAOPA Regional Meeting took place on October 4th and 5th in Albena Bulgaria. Subjects treated were:

  • Intiative by AOPA Luxembourg and AOPA Switzerland to advance European UL Standards (like 600kg MTOM) and to facilitate cross border flights.
  • Presentation by EASA of the GA Strategy 2030, among others: developing more "declared standards" (like DTO); Innovative Air Mobiltiy; ADS-L embracing UAT, FLARM,....
  • GAFOR system expanded into Eastern Europe
  • AVGAS situation pending extension of ECHA approval of TEL additive.

AOPA Luxembourg at the 2024 Belgian Air Cadets Wings Parade in Beauvechain

 

On October 16, 2024, AOPA Luxembourg proudly joined the Belgian Air Cadets Wings Parade at Beauvechain, celebrating the achievements of young cadets in a truly memorable event.

The Luxembourg delegation, led by President Peter Sodermans, included Kany Touré, Marc Rasquin, Christophe Englebert, Czech Ambassador Vladimir Bärtl, and LtCol Claude Robinet, exemplifying our commitment to fostering youth aviation through cross-border collaboration. During the event, AOPA Luxembourg was also recognized with a Certificate of Appreciation for sponsoring this summer’s international Air Cadet delegation.

Airfield Finds!

 

EHRD Rotterdam

Looking for a city getaway? Loooking for a flying challenge?

Then consider EHRD for your next flight! The local flying club provides a warm welcome. Landing fees wiht handling and one overnight stay is about €75 for a ULM. Make sure you've studied the reporting points and are prepared for arrival at this international airport. You can get to the city swiftly by metro or bus in about 20 minutes or do it the Dutch way and a rent a bike at the airport! The city has a lot to offer, a huge food hall with over 40 restaurants in one place, amazing architechture, museums and a cool vibe. Don't miss going up the Euromast!
