Aviation Tech Talk

The European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and the International Air Transport Association (IATA) announced the conclusions of a workshop jointly hosted at EASA’s headquarters to combat incidents of GNSS spoofing and jamming.

The workshop’s high-level conclusion was that interference with satellite-based services that provide information on the precise position of an aircraft can pose significant challenges to aviation safety. Mitigating these risks requires short-, medium- and long-term measures, beginning with the sharing of incident information and remedies.

For those who fly with Jet-A1 fuel - check out this interesting article on aerovfr.com regarding possible limitations to self-service fuelling due to cumene contained in fuels. See also here.

Have you flown to locations where the density altitude differs a lot from the pressure altitude? Maybe more so during certain seasons?

Peter recommends an app called "autodens" - a free tool that calculates the density altitude of a location (so far only available for ios). He uses it and has found it helpful - thanks for sharing Peter! autodens apple

Wellness Corner - on the ground and in the air

We will be highlighting a wellness aspect, providing tips or interesting links to help you on your path to maintaining a healthy body and mind - both in and out of the cockpit, on the ground and in the air.

Many of you may not be aware of this - but before every AOPA Luxembourg board meeting we do some breathwork. Yes - we breathe together! This helps us to settle the mind, connect to our bodies and be fully present in the moment.

See what Navy Seal Mark Divine, has to say about 'box breathing' - a type of pranayama, breathing technique, used in yoga. Onto the article...

And here is another article about the benefits of this type of breathwork. Continue reading...

The Chambre des Salariés has a work-related stress hotline available at +352 27 49 42 22 Mon-Fri 8am-2pm or via email at: stressberodung@cls.lu to speak with someone anonymously. The Stressberodung service allows 5 free consultations.

If you have any other great guidelines, please share them with us at editor@aopa.lu
